August Gratitude Day 5: Thankful for this comfort in my daily routine

Unlike my previous gratitude posts, my goal today is to keep this one short. Right now I’m meant to be doing a workout, but my butt hurts from yesterday’s session and I’m being a little sooky. I’ll be walking my son to school today, so I’ll still be getting movement, but I’ve postponed my workout until lunch.

All that to say that I’ve broken my morning routine today, which is semi-relevant to today’s gratitude prompt:

I’m thankful for this comfort in my daily routine…

I’m thankful for my mental health app on my phone, Finch.

About Finch

At its core, Finch is a self-care app. You have a bird that you take care of by taking care of yourself. Your job is to tick off tasks during the day, and if you complete enough, your Finch gets sent on an adventure.…

August Gratitude Day 4: I’m so grateful I met…

It’s day 4 of my personal challenge to blog the daily gratitude prompts from The Optimistic Muse, and today’s prompt is:

I’m so grateful to have met…

I’ve been lucky to meet some incredible people in my life. There are the usual suspects, obviously my family, and my husband. I’m grateful to have met my son, but if we talk about that, it makes you consider why I might not have met my son, and that gets pretty morbid quickly. So we’ll move on from that before it gets sad.

If I started talking about my friends, the list would get pretty huge – I’ve got some pretty kick ass people in my village, so to speak. So, I’ve decided to focus on some online friendships I’ve made in pretty unique and unusual ways.…

Finding gratitude on the school run

Most days, it’s a mission to get my son ready for school. The asking, pleading, bargaining, and finally yelling to get him to put his clothes on and brush his teeth. The start of the day would be extremely overwhelming if it weren’t for my morning planner session and a workout. It’s hard to feel morning gratitude at all.

Then comes the walk to school.

Which leads me to today’s gratitude prompt.

Pause for one minute. What do you notice that prompts gratitude?

(Elisabeth from The Optimistic Muse is hosting a month of daily gratitude prompts, and I’ve chosen to blog them.)

This morning, I took note of all the things I was grateful for during our walk.

  • My son talks non-stop.

July Reading Roundup: Six books and one I haven’t stopped recommending

Blimey – this was a big month! I didn’t actually realise that I have finished 6 books this month, 7 if you count the fact that I finished the last one on the 1st of August. But because this month is so long already, I’m not counting it, and I’ll get on my rant about that book next month. There’s also one in this month’s pile that I think might be my read of the year.

Let’s take a look at what did count this month. Followed by my daily August gratitude answer too.

Monthly Summary Stats

Guess who wasn’t paying attention when selecting books this month? This girl! I can confirm my books were 100% eBooks, all found on Kindle Unlimited.…

August Gratitude Day 1: Highlight of my day

This month, Elisabeth from The Optimistic Muse, is hosting a month of daily gratitude prompts. I’ve been trying to practice gratitude more, and each day I write something I’m grateful for in my planner.

I’ve decided to take this one step further in August, and join Elisabeth’s challenge by blogging my daily gratitude prompt. So here goes!

The highlight of my day was…

Seeing how moved my husband was when he was reading the birthday card my son gave him.

Amongst other things he had written simply “thanks for being my dad.”

You guys, parenting is hard. We are always beating ourselves up, wondering if we are doing our best. Wondering if we are too angry, or too hard on our kid.…
